"The subject to review this time is the Octave HP300SE tube preamplifier. Its predecessor, the HP300, when released in 2004, has been the favorite among audiophiles. As the third preamp model in Octave’s preamp lineup, it uses the not-so-common JAN-6BQ7A tube, and good quality replacement for this tube model is hard to find in the market. The reason for using this tube model is not on altering the sonic performance, but for a circuit design that can follow closely with that on the Jubilee series.
