British loudspeaker manufacturer PMC has introduced the Prophecy product line, featuring five home loudspeakers that the designers assert establish new benchmarks in both sound quality and design. This collection includes three floor-standing models, a stand-mount option, and a center channel speaker.
Combining cutting-edge technology with sustainability, the series aims to provide audiophiles with an unparalleled listening experience, delivering greater scale, realism, and transparency.
TECHNOLOGY AT THE HEART OF THE PMC PROPHECY SERIES
Central to the Prophecy Series is the evolution of PMC’s signature Laminair technology, now enhanced as LaminairX. This redesign reduces turbulence and harmonic distortion, achieving cleaner sound with precision bass timing and dynamic range. Integrated into the aluminium base, the aerodynamic vent serves a dual purpose: grounding the speaker for better control and enhancing its acoustic performance.
HOLISTIC DESIGN FOR A CONSISTENT LISTENING EXPERIENCE
The Prophecy Series reflects PMC’s holistic approach, considering every design element—drivers, crossovers, cabinets, and waveguides—to create speakers that work in harmony. This method ensures consistent tonal quality across all models, from the compact Prophecy1 standmount to the flagship Prophecy9 with dual bass drivers. The series also includes the ProphecyC centre speaker, ideal for multichannel setups.
COMPONENTS IN THE PMC PROPHECY SERIES
Each speaker features bespoke long-throw bass drivers matched to PMC’s Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) technology, delivering deep, uncoloured bass. The drivers’ lightweight mica-filled cones provide optimal rigidity and responsiveness. High frequencies are handled by a 26mm soft-dome tweeter, proven in professional studio monitors, while the three-way models include a 55mm soft-dome midrange for enhanced integration and ultra-wide imaging.
A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH TO DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING
PMC has incorporated sustainability into the Prophecy Series, using veneers sourced from sustainable forests and minimally invasive finishing techniques for a modern aesthetic. Packaging has been reimagined to replace polystyrene with recyclable cardboard and plastic with cloth bags, reducing environmental impact.
The PMC Prophecy Series will be available globally from 1st February 2025.
