Date: 2014-09-26

The 18th Guangzhou International High-End Audio / Video Show took place in the Baiyun International Convention Center from 19th to 21st September 2014. Hundreds of latest audio products worldwide were exhibited at the show venue this year. Bryston's new T Series of speakers giving its debut in Mainland China was the theme of Richcoln's participation. Also exhibited were twenty.26, the top PMC "twenty" series of speakers, besides newly distributed brands of products like Aedle headphones from France, Lindermann "musicbook" multi-media players and bFly-audio shock absorbers from Germany.

Richcoln's booth remained in Exhibition Hall 3415 as usual. Bryston products were used throughout the demo sessions, which comprised the Model T speaker, BP-26 preamplifier with built-in MC phono stage, 28BSST² mono power amplifiers. Analogue source components comprised Acoustic Signature's STORM II turntable with TA-1000 pick-up arm and Soundsmith's SUSSURO moving-iron cartridge, while digital audio source components used were Metronome Technologie's T6 Signature CD transport and C6 Signature 24 bit/192kHz D/A converter. Chord cabling was used to connect the demo system.

A few features of the demo system were worth mentioning.

The Bryston Model T 's enclosure is a tall, yet compact one built of thick, highly dense panels. This 3-way floorstander houses two titanium-dome tweeters, two midrange and three low frequency drivers, it is capable of exceptionally wide dynamic range, low distortion and uncompressed sound reproduction.

The Bryston 28B SST² mono power amplifier can deliver 1000W into any load.

The highly esteemed Acoustic Signature turntable as used in the demo sessions features revolutionary Silencer-3-Platter design and Tidorfolon bearing to achieve silent, uncoloured sound. The TA-1000 pick-up arm features an arm wand made of dual carbon fibre tubes, while the pick-up cartridge by Soundsmith has unusually low moving mass than most moving magnets and moving coils thereby retrieving more information engraved on records. The demo system amazed the audience with excellent performance and a truthful sound.

Exhibits on static display comprised other members of the Bryston T series like TC-1 center speaker, Mini T, TOW on wall speaker and T SUB active subwoofer with built-in 600W amplifier, 4BSST², 6BSST², 7BSST² and 9BSST² and naturally the 4K supporting SP3 surround processor. A special demo zone in the booth allowed visitors to audition Bryston's digital audio playback system comprising BDP-1 digital player, BDA-2 decoder and BHA-1 headphone amplifier via Aedle's stylish headphones. Meanwhile, Lindemann's "musicbook 15" PCM/DSD decoder/player and "musicbook 25" streaming player were demonstrated with the Aedle headphones and attracted every young visitor to the show venue. A corner of the booth was allocated to PMC speakers. Attendees also found shock absorbers by bFly-audio interesting. These products were demonstrated throughout the two daily demo sessions, convincing even the untrained ear with significant sonic improvements. Audiophiles are now facing one more irresistible gimmick.

After a short interval of three days the 18th Guangzhou International High-End Audio / Video Show ended in great success. We at Richcoln have spared no effort to committed ourselves to enriching people with listening pleasure via participation in this annual event.
