Date: 2011-02

London 9th February 2011. At a packed Café de Paris, and in the presence of Alison Goldfrapp, Chris Martin, Tony Visconti, Gary Numan and many others, the Music Producers Guild held its annual awards, honouring the world’s best recording and mixing engineers and producers. PMC sponsored the UK Single of the Year category, which was contested by Paloma Faith, Mumford & Sons and the eventual winner, Plan B.

In the ceremony that was hosted by Radio 6’s Nemone, Plan B (aka Ben Drew) won the award for his single, “She Said” and collected the golden microphone from PMC managing director, Miles Roberts. Plan B’s producer David McEwan, joining him on stage, thanked PMC for sponsoring the award and, announcing that the single had been mixed using PMC monitors, said “You know we love your speakers.”

Steve Levine, legendary producer and chairman of the Music Producers Guild thanked PMC for providing the playback sound system for the event, commenting that they are his favourite speakers. The company’s flagship BB5-XBDS-A active monitors were situated in the main auditorium, with a pair of MB2-XBD powered by Bryston 7B SST2 amplifiers supplying the music for the guests on the balcony.

In another PMC related award, Tim Young of Metropolis, Europe’s largest mastering complex, and long time advocate of PMC monitors, won the award for Mastering Engineer of the Year.

After presenting the award to Plan B, Miles Roberts said “It was a great honour to be able to present such a dynamic and talented artist with the award for Single of the Year and it was particularly pleasing to hear that his critically acclaimed track was mixed using our speakers.” He added “PMC has a long relationship with the professional music industry, with our monitors the speakers of choice in the very best studios across the world. And so it was fitting that we were able to give something back to the industry by providing a sound system that enabled the nominees’ music to be heard at the very best quality.”
